WE WILL NOTE BE PLAYING RECORDERS
IN PHASE FOUR OF COVID.
YOU CAN SCROLL BELOW TO SEE SOME RESOURCES WE WILL USE WHEN GIVEN THE OKAY TO PLAY.
Fourth graders will be learning to play the recorder this year. Each student has a class recorder assigned solely to them for the entire year. It will be kept at school. Most students find that it is helpful to have a recorder at home to practice with. If your student would like a recorder, they can be purchased at Meyer Music (Lakewood Blvd. in Holland)
I currently have a subscription to Musicplay.
This is a wonderful resource. Your student can use it at home.
They can go to https://musicplayonline.com and then enter the username and password information that I've shared in class.
The password changes every few months. It will be posted in class.
Choose recorder from the menu on the left hand side of the screen.
They can then practice with Movie Highlights or Kid Notes.
Each song has an accompaniment.
Another resource we are using is through Carnegie Hall. This site has the music and audio for the concert we will participate in on Monday morning, March 23rd. Students will be joining other West Michigan fourth graders at DeWitt Auditorium at Zeeland East High School. We will be playing along with the Holland Symphony Orchestra. We will be working on the music in class and this website has the student digital workbook containing our concert music.

Or “google” Carnegie Hall (https://www.carnegiehall.org/)
Hover on Education and Select Educators
Click on Link-Up
Click on Link-Up Resources for National and International Partners
Scroll down to Link-Up Resources
Select The-Orchestra-Sings
Select Student Guide
and in another tab select Complete Audio
I will be modeling how to access and use this site in class. I open two tabs. One with the audio and one with your digital student guide. This allows you to read the music as you hear the accompaniment.
Here is a link to a site with accompaniment music to the recorder karate songs.
We use a few of these in class.
Students can see me for the password!
This site also includes an interactive fingering chart.
